I used to be terribly rude to my brothers about their avid reading of all graphic novels. It could literally end in a full scale argument as I insisted they were simply comics for grown ups. Recently I picked up some Spiderman and batman graphic novels which were lying around. I only did this because the cover on them appealed to my sense of nostalgia watching Spiderman as a child. The Spiderman and batman graphic novels were a revelation, they had complex story lines and I was amazed at the story being presented as images. I don`t know whether I will progress further than the Spiderman and batman graphic novels but I am now reading my sixth. I love the graphics and find that I can sit and read them for hours at a time, and the fact that they are presented in this way means I can enjoy looking back to try to work out the story line again.
